Matthew Lewis, who plays who plays Neville, has undergone a bigger physical transformation than any other person who works in those films to the point that, when I went to the read through of Half Blood Prince, we were all sitting in this great square and they put all the tables from the Great Hall into this big square so everyone’s facing inwards for the read through. And facing me were Dan, and Rupert, and Emma, and Evanna, and Bonnie, and the main lot. And there’s this really big cool guy sitting there, with a bit of stubble and wearing this woolen hat, and a leather jacket, and I didn’t recognize him, and my eyes pass on, and I sort of thought, ‘That will be the guy they’ve got playing McLaggen’. And then I thought, ‘Where’s Matthew?’ and I looked at him and my god, when did that happen? -JK ROWLING

 #okay so this is pretty much 100% professor longbottom right here #because you know neville would kind of end up being the cool professor without knowing it #he would be the ~war hero legend that wears hipster sweaters before they became popular and has a scottish accent #and would totally have sunglasses 1000% and would wear them when the were out on the grounds cataloging plant life around the lake #and would only wear his robes part of the time b/c it’s hard to tend to plants in full robes duh #and would have all these weird pieces of jewlery that he wears because he got them in some foreign country while researching cacti or something #professor longbottom: unintentional hogwarts heartthrob

Neville was nearly put in Hufflepuff, he didn’t really mind too much. He knew his Gran would be happy for any house but Slytherin. However, both he and Gran were ecstatic when he was sorted into Gryffindor like his parents. Though for the longest time Neville was sure he had been put in the wrong house.

A portion of Snape’s hatred towards Neville was always linked back to the fact that, had the Dark Lord chosen him instead, Lily could very well be alive. Though there was also a part of him that knew the other possibility was Lily ending up the one in a fragile mental state (such as Alice Longbottom).

Professor Neville Longbottom easily became one of the students’ favorite professors. He was understanding, interesting and willing to help out any student who came to him with a problem.
